View Agent 6.2 Video Driver Replacement

Installing a video driver from an earlier version of the VMware View Agent is a valid option for those who would like to run the same version of the Agent as they do on their View infrastructure.

At this time, cancel the Agent installer and open Computer Management. Click on Device Manager and select the Display adapters. Right click on the VMware SVGA 3D driver and click Uninstall.

Select the checkbox to delete the driver from Windows then click OK.

Click Scan for new hardware.

Windows will discover the video device and install a generic video driver from Windows Update.

Reboot the VM, then re-open Computer Manager and go back to the Display adapter menu. Right click on the Standard VGA Graphics Adapter and click Update Driver.

A Wizard will open, select Browse my computer for driver software.

Browse to C:\ViewAgent6-1-1VidDriver and click Next. Once the install completes Windows will ask to reboot, click Yes to complete the installation.

The VM modifications for the View Agent video driver are complete.

If using View Composer: 1. Power down the VM 2. Create a Snapshot 3. Point the View pool image to the newly created Snapshot 4. Recompose the View Pool (WARNING this will require an outage)

If using Unidesk: 1. Go to the Unidesk admin console 2. Right click and select Finalize on the modified layer 3. Highlight the desktops to be modified and schedule the layer to be updated (WARNING this will require an outage)

I would like to thank for his assistance on discovery of this method.
