DIY & Replace 1996-2006 Chrysler Sebring Window Regulator courtesy of
When the rear window fall down or you hear a crunching sound the problem is usually the window regulator. There are 2 cables that pull a metal cross bracket up and down to move your small 1/4 window. Replacing the entire unit, motor and all, is not that difficult. Step by step instructions are on this site and a video is also part of this web site. If you buy the regulator from the dealer you will need to install your motor and wrap the cables. This is difficult. Rebuilding these regs is very difficult and not something you will have much success at. If you need these we have them available (used or rebuilt) at To the left is a pic of the Right (Passenger) Rear Convertible Window Regulator. To the right is a pic of the most common failure. The plastic retainer (top). Either the plastic breaks or the plastic housing on the regulator breaks. These are replaced with a metal rivet (below) that should last a lifetime. The motor on the regulator is almost NEVER the problem. If youare not getting any power to the rear assembly it is usually the master window switch. To test this theory, remove the rear panel, unplug the wiring harness to the motor, attach 2 leads to a cordless battery from a drill or screwdriver, and apply current directly to the motor (CAUTION, be sure you are using the plug from the motor and NOT the plug coming from the car power source). The motor will likely go up and down without a problem. Now you know the problem is the switch. Want to see how to install the reg, great, next page.
