You can use System Restore tool to restore Windows XP to its previous state. System Restore contains the snapshots of program files, critical system files and registry settings. It stores all these information as restore points and these restore points are used to restore Windows XP to its previous state. Restore points are also capable of changing batch files, scripts and executable files on your system. System Restore tool does not makes any change in personal documents, email messages and photos.
Before executing System Restore, you should log on to windows as an administrator. Ask system administrator for help if you system is a part of network.
Steps to use System Tool to restore Windows XP to previous state:
Click Start button > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore Welcome to System Restore page will open, select Restore my computer to an earlier time option and click on Next Now, Select a Restore Point page will open, select most recent system restore point from on this list, click a restore point list and click on Next. A message may appear which lists configuration changes that System Restore is going to make, click on OK Confirm Restore Point Selection page will open, click Next System Restore will now restore the configuration of Windows XP to its previous state and restarts your system Again log on to your system as an administrator. Restoration Complete page will be opened, click on OK.

Use System Restore Tool in Safe mode
Restart the Computer Press F5 before windows loading logo appears A Black window with Several options will Appear Select Safe Mode with Command Prompt and Press Enter When the Command Prompt Opens Type “Rstrui.exe” and press Enter
Now the Graphical Window of System Restore Tool will appear and you may follow the previous steps to restore your windows Xp to previous stage.
